Mana Pacific Supports Blue Planet Alliance’s Third 100% Renewable Energy Fellowship Program in Honolulu

From October 7th-11th, Mana Pacific supported, facilitated, and participated in Blue Planet Alliance‘s third 100% Renewable Energy Fellowship cohort in Honolulu, Oahu earlier this month. This round welcomed ten new countries and territories from the Pacific, Caribbean, and Atlantic: Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Cook Islands, Curacao, Nauru, Rapa Nui, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Helena, Suriname, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

This Fellowship Program invites leaders from the community, utility, regulator, and government to plan their energy transitions. Attendees learn from Hawaii’s experience passing their 100% renewable energy law in 2015 and how the state is reaching its goal, as well as share their own experiences, challenges, and successes at home.

Throughout the week, attendees hear from technical, policy, and financial experts to assist with their renewable energy goals and current challenges in reaching them. One of the experts the Fellowship cohort heard from was Mana Pacific’s very own Controller and CFO, Olga Reym, who presented innovative financial approaches to fund renewable energy projects in the region. One of the solutions she discussed in great detail was Donor Advised Funds (DAFs), which are like charitable investment accounts for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations and causes.

The Mana Pacific team extends its congratulations and gratitude to their partner, Blue Planet Alliance, for another successful week. They are committed to continuing their support for this program as a technical expert and project implementation partner.
