We are pleased to announce that our team at Mana Pacific Inc. has been selected as one of the 25 winners of Phase I of the Community Power Accelerator Prize by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and its National Community Solar Partnership (NCSP).
The Community Power Accelerator is a $10M prize competition that rewards and fast-tracks mission-aligned solar developers to grow their operations and deploy successful community solar projects that use replicable business models and prioritize equitable access. It highlights developers who incorporate these 5 meaningful benefits:
- low-to moderate-income household access
- greater household savings
- resilience and grid benefits
- community ownership
- equitable workforce development
Mana Pacific was awarded this prize for our past, current, and future work as a solar developer and our community solar project efforts across Hawaii, U.S. Territories, and Pacific Island Nations. This includes co-developing the State of Hawaii’s first-ever 100% community-owned and designed solar projects, which are simultaneously the first community solar projects on the island of Moloka’i. The projects will be fully owned and operated by the Hoa’hu Energy Cooperative Moloka’i, and are being co-developed by Mana Pacific and our partner, Shake Energy Collaborative.
Mana Pacific is honored to be selected by the Department of Energy and its National Community Solar Partnership. The team looks forward to the subsequent phases and to launching their pipeline of community solar projects on the Community Power Accelerator platform to complete the project financing process with competitive terms for the communities they serve.
