Mana Pacific was invited to join the Samuel Lawrence Foundation’s First Friday Series panel, “How Hawaii Did It,” which focuses on the State of Hawaii’s passage of its 100% renewable energy law in 2015 and how that energy transition has been rapidly underway ever since. Mana Pacific was represented by its UN, Energy Policy, and Project Manager, Sierra Jackovics, who expertly touches on the economic benefits of renewables compared to fossil fuels for utilities, lessons learned from our development experience in Hawaii and the Pacific regions, and how to accelerate the project development process to achieve 100% renewable energy on time or ahead of schedule. Overall, Sierra’s contribution to the panel was instrumental in emphasizing the benefits of and practical strategies for transitioning to renewable energy in island states, countries, and territories.
Mana Pacific was honored to be featured among other experts, including Chris Lee, Hawaii State Senator; Gwen Yamamoto Lau, Executive Director of the Hawaii Green Infrastructure Authority; and Richard Wallsgrove, Co-Director of the Environmental Law program and Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Hawaii. Together, these panelists offered a comprehensive perspective on Hawaii’s renewable energy transition and discussed various aspects of the state’s progress in achieving its energy goals.
